Situated on the western tip of Prince Edward Island, Canada, surrounded by the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Northumberland Strait, Royal Star Foods Ltd. is only minutes away from some of the best lobster grounds in North America. Our processing facilities are conveniently located on the wharf, which enables us to unload the boats immediately upon their return from their daily fishing.
Our present facility, built in 1996, is one of the largest and most modern seafood processing plants in Eastern Canada. Housed in its 75,000 square feet are two processing areas, three different styles of freezers, a cold storage with a capacity of 2 million pounds, and a dry storage area. In addition to this building, a second facility has a 400,000 lb refrigerated live holding area for lobsters. Our ability to regulate the amount of product that enters the processing area allows for a more efficient and cost effective operation.
These two facilities are strictly monitored by our quality control department. We ensure that food safety and quality are never compromised and we routinely test our products to guarantee that our seafood is handled and processed in a safe and consistent manner.
Our facility has implemented a QMP (Quality Management Plan), and it is HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) certified. We welcome the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) into our plant to conduct regular audits on our programs. We are EU (European Union), C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certified.
We strive to exceed the quality expectations of our customers.
